Police charge man with assault police at Narromine

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest in the state's west yesterday.

After 3pm (Tuesday 30 July 2019), two officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District attended a house on Second Avenue, Narromine, following a concern for welfare report.

Police will allege that soon after arriving, a 24-year-old man attacked the officers, before biting a male sergeant's hand.

The man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged with assault police cause actual bodily harm, assault police and resist arrest.

He was refused bail and appeared in Dubbo Local Court today (Wednesday 31 July 2019), where he was formally refused bail to reappear in the same court on Monday 5 August 2019.

The sergeant was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment to a hand injury and has since been discharged.
