Police charge man with attempted murder in Sydney CBD

A man will face court today charged with attempted murder after a domestic-related incident in Sydney's CBD yesterday.

About 5.50am (Saturday 27 February 2021), officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were called to an apartment complex on Liverpool Street, following reports of an assault.

Police were told a man forced entry to a unit occupied by a woman, who was known to him. Once inside, the man allegedly attacked another man with a broken glass bottle.

The injured man, aged 35, suffered lacerations to the head, neck and chest. He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, officers arrested a 30-year-old man in the vicinity of Liverpool and Goulburn streets about 8.30pm yesterday.

He was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, and cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder (DV).

The Yagoona man was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 28 February 2021).
