Police charge man with drink driving after nearly colliding with police vehicle

A man has been charged with drink driving after nearly colliding with a Highway Police vehicle at Peakhurst today.

About 9.20am on Monday 16 September 2019, a vehicle on Pritchard Place, Peakhurst travelling eastbound made a right hand turn onto Forest Road. At the same time, police from the Hurstville Highway Patrol, were travelling westbound on Forest Road approaching the same intersection when the man drove into their path.

After breaking heavily to avoid a collision, police immediately followed and stopped the car where they allegedly found a young boy in the front passenger seat.

The man was given a road-side breath analysis which returned a positive result.

After contacting the child's mother to collect the young boy, the 40-year-old man was then transported to Kogarah Police Station where he underwent a subsequent breath test which returned an alleged reading of 0.075.

His license was immediately suspended, and he was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for driving with a low range PCA to attend Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 8 October 2019.
