Police charge man with drug and DV related offences at Young

Police have charged a man following alleged drug and domestic violence related incidents in the states Southern Region today.

On Sunday 18 April 2021, officers from The Hume Police District were called to a home on Francis Place, Young, following reports of a domestic dispute.

Officers spoke with a woman and an investigation commenced into a number of domestic violence incidents from January this year. Police conducted a search warrant and allegedly located prohibited drugs and stolen property.

Earlier today, (Monday, 19 April 2021), 31-year-old man was arrested after police stopped him at a motel in Zouch Street. The man was searched, and police allegedly found him in possession of prohibited drugs and $4500 cash.

He was taken to Young Police Station and charged with malicious damage – DV related, common assault – DV, intentionally choke person without consent, breach ADVO, drug possession and supply, and deal with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and appeared before Cootamundra Local Court today where he was formally refused bail.

He will next appear in Young Local Court on Thursday 3 December 2021.
