Police charge man with firearms offences - Woodberry

A man has been charged with firearm offences following an investigation by police on the .

About 9.40am on Friday 29 December 2023, officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District conducted a search of a house in Segenhoe Street, Woodberry, in relation to a Firearms and a Weapons Prohibition Order.

During the search, police located a silver semi-automatic pistol and a small black semi-automatic pistol with the functioning slide missing.

The accused was arrested and conveyed to the Maitland Police Station, where he was charged with five offences, including:

  • Acquire pistol – subject to Firearms Prohibition Order
  • Possess unauthorised pistol
  • Acquire pistol part without authority to do so
  • Firearm found at premises – subject to Prohibition Order (two counts)

The man was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Saturday 30 December 2023.
