Police charge man with fraud over shipping containers - Jannali

A man has been charged with fraud-related offences following an investigation into an alleged online scam in Sydney's south.

From July 2019, Sutherland Shire Detectives commenced inquiries after they became aware of a man allegedly not fulfilling online market place purchases of shipping containers.

About 7.55am yesterday (Wednesday 15 January 2020), officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attended an address on Georges River Road, Jannali, and arrested a 47-year-old man.

About 1.30pm police executed a search warrant on the same address and car where they seized a number of digital devices which will be sent for financial forensic testing.

Police will allege the man accepted more than $13,000 from six people over a seven-month period, claiming the man did not provide any of the goods or services as agreed.

He was taken to Sutherland Police Station where he was charged with seven offences including six counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 13 February 2020.
