Police charge man with high-range drink driving with five kids in car - Cranebrook

A man has been found driving a vehicle with an alleged blood-alcohol reading of 0.30, more than six times over the limit, in Cranebrook today.

Shortly after 3pm (Saturday 29 May 2021), officers from Nepean Highway Patrol pulled a Kia Carnival over on The Northern Road, Cranebrook.

The driver, a man aged 46, was breath tested and allegedly provided a positive result. He was arrested at the scene and allegedly became aggressive towards officers as they explained he would be taken to Penrith Police Station for the purpose of a breath analysis.

His five passengers, all children aged between 10 and 4, remained at the scene with police until the arrival of family members.

The man was taken to the police station at Penrith where he underwent a breath analysis that allegedly provided a reading of 0.30.

He was charged with high-range drink driving and resisting arrest.

His licence was suspended, and he is due to face Penrith Local Court on Thursday 24 June 2021.
