Police charge man with high-range PCA after driving motorised lawnmower at Tweed Heads

A man has been charged with high-range drink-driving after he was stopped by police while riding a motorised lawnmower south of Tweed Heads last night.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District stopped a man on a motorised ride-on lawnmower at the intersection of Shearer Court and Australia Drive, Terranora, about 7.45pm (Saturday 12 March 2022).

Police spoke to the rider – a 40-year-old man – before subjecting him to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where he underwent a secondary breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.243.

He was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for high-range PCA (second offence), drive with interlock device not functioning/circumvented, and use unregistered class-A motor vehicle on road.

The man will appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 2 May 2022.
