Police charge man with more than 80 offences at Auburn

A man will appear in court today charged with more than 80 offences following an investigation into property and fraud-related crime in Sydney's south-west.

In June this year, officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command's Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation into multiple reports of steal from motor vehicle offences committed across the south-west metropolitan region.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators, assisted by specialist police from South West Metropolitan Operational Support Group, executed a search warrant at a home on Phillips Avenue, Regents Park, about 6am yesterday (Tuesday 3 August 2021).

During the search, investigators noticed the occupant – a 36-year-old man – riding passed the house on a bicycle.

The man was stopped and arrested, before being searched. Police seized a knife, pliers, screwdriver and other items that will undergo further examination.

He was taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with 86 offences including:

  • 7 x enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
  • 8 x enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner/occupier
  • 1 x larceny value >$2000 &
  • 7 x larceny value
  • 7 x destroy or damage property
  • 56 x dishonestly obtain property by deception

The man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 4 August 2021).
