Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following a death in Cheltenham on Tuesday 16 December.
Emergency services were called to reports a man was allegedly seriously assaulted at a Warrigal Road address shortly before 10pm.
A 27-year-old Berwick man was declared deceased at the scene.
A 28-year-old Cheltenham man was arrested at the scene.
The Cheltenham man has been charged with murder.
He is remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning.
Investigators allege the two men were known to each other.
