Police charge man with murder - Albion Park Rail

A man will face court today charged following the death of a woman near Lake Illawarra at the weekend.

Just after 11pm on Sunday (18 December 2022), emergency services were called to a unit complex on Boonerah Street, Albion Park Rail, following concerns for a woman's welfare.

On arrival, officers from Lake Illawarra Police District located a 37-year-old woman seriously injured inside the unit.

Despite the efforts of responding police and NSW Ambulance paramedics, the woman died at the scene.

Officers established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Illawambra.

Following inquiries, strike force investigators arrested a 28-year-old man at the property a short time later.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with murder.

The man was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 20 December 2022).
