Police charge man with murder - Marrickville

A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Sydney's Inner West last week.

About 12.05pm on Friday (13 August 2021), emergency services were called to Marrickville Road, Marrickville, after reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command attended and found a man with multiple wounds to his upper body.

Despite efforts to revive him, the man died at the scene.

Following a police operation on nearby Denison Road, Dulwich Hill, a man, aged 62, was arrested with assistance from specialist police.

The man was taken to hospital under police guard.

Crime scenes were established at both Marrickville and Dulwich Hill which were forensically examined.

Following inquiries, the man was charged with murder and refused bail during a bedside hearing today (Tuesday 17 August 2021).

He is due to appear before Newtown Local Court on Tuesday 28 September 2021.
