Police Charge Man With Possessing Firearms In Granville

A man will face court today after he was charged with allegedly possessing firearms in Sydney's west.

Cumberland Police Area Command began an investigation after they located and seized a Toyota Hiace van on Blaxcell Street, Granville, on Thursday 15 January 2026.

During a search of the vehicle, police located and seized a pistol, revolver and ammunition.

Following inquiries, about 9.30am on Thursday 9 July 2026, officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended Farnell Street, Granville, where they arrested a 37-year-old man.

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was served a Firearms Prohibition Order and Weapons Prohibition Order.

The man was charged with possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in public place; use, supply, acquire, possess stolen firearm or part; and two counts of possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 6 today (Friday 10 July 2026).
