Police Charge Man With Trafficking Cocaine In Brighton

A man is facing serious drug trafficking charges following a search warrant in Brighton East yesterday.

Following a month-long investigation into the alleged distribution of illicit substances across the Brighton area, detectives from the Caulfield Divisional Response Unit executed a search warrant at two units on North Road, just before 6am on Monday 20 July.

During a search of the properties, police allegedly located a commercial quantity of cocaine with an estimated potential street value of approximately $100,000, as well as ketamine and prescription medication.

Detectives also seized $45,000 in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.

The 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of cocaine, and possessing ketamine, prescription medications and proceeds of crime.

He was remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested, however, was released pending further enquiries.
