Five men have been charged following extensive investigations into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in Sydney's south.
In August this year, Strike Force Igera was established by the South Sydney Police Area Command's Drug Unit to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine and gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) across Sydney's south and metropolitan areas.
Following extensive investigations, a search warrant was executed by officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command, with the assistance of South Sydney PAC's Drug Unit, last Thursday (9 December 2021), at a home on Tempe Street, Greenacre.
A 29-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
- Goods suspected stolen in/on premises (four counts)
- Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime over $5000
- Supply prohibited drug- indictable quantity (two counts)
- Possess prohibited drug (four counts), and
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday 19 January 2021.
Further investigations led Strike Force Igera detectives to execute search warrants at properties in Waterloo, Rosebery and Bankstown yesterday (Tuesday 14 December 2021), where police seized drugs, mobile phones and other items.
During the search warrants, police arrested four men. Three of the men were taken to Mascot Police Station.
A 44-year-old man was charged with 14 offences
- Supply prohibited drug - commercial quantity (five counts)
- Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis (two counts)
- Supply prohibited drug - large commercial quantity (three counts)
- Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime
- Possess prohibited drug
- Deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000, and
- Supply prohibited drug - indictable quantity.
A 36-year-old man was charged with three offences
- Possess prohibited drug
- Supply prohibited drug small quantity, and
- Deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000.
A 62-year-old man was charged with three offences
- Knowingly take part in large commercial supply
- Deal with proceeds of crime, and,
- Participate in criminal group.
All three men were refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (15 December 2021).
A woman was also arrested and taken to Mascot Police Station where she was charged with unrelated offences.
The fourth man, aged 23, was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug - large commercial quantity.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (15 December 2021).
Since it was established, Strike Force Igera detectives have seized in excess of 21 litres of GBL, 10 grams of methylamphetamine and heroin, and $25,000 cash.
Investigations under Strike Force Igera continue.
