Police charge pair after aggravated burglaries

Police have arrested two people this morning after observing an allegedly stolen vehicle in Langwarrin at approximately 3.30am.

Police monitored the vehicle which the offenders then dumped in Church Street, Richmond.

The two men fled the area and ran off towards the Yarra River.

Police searched the area with the assistance of the Dog Squad before locating the pair nearby about 5.00am.

Police located two bags containing firearms during the incident.

The Mercedes was allegedly stolen from an aggravated burglary in Hawthorn East on 4 July.

The firearms located were allegedly stolen from an aggravated burglary in Donvale overnight on 3 July.

No one was injured during any of the incidents.

A 25-year-old Chelsea Heights man has been charged by Manningham Detectives with 17 offences including aggravated burglary, theft of firearms and theft of motor vehicle and will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court today (6 July).

A 17-year-old Frankston teen has also been charged by Manningham Detectives with the same offences and will face the Children's Court at a later date.
