Police charge pair after man assaulted - Yennora

Two men have been charged following investigations into an assault and stealing at a Yennora licensed premises last night.

About 10pm (Friday 5 July 2019), police were called to the premises on Fairfield Street after reports by staff of an unconscious man located outside the hotel.

A 40-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition to be treated for head injuries. He is now reported to be in a stable condition.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command commenced inquiries into the incident.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Crown Street, Fairfield, where they arrested two men – aged 24 and 22 – before taking them to Fairfield Police Station.

The older man was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm, and aggravated steal from the person. He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 7 July 2019).

The younger man was charged with steal from the person value under $2000, and possess prohibited drug. He was refused bail to also appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 7 July 2019).

Police will allege the 40-year-old man was assaulted by the 24-year-old man outside the venue, before he and the 22-year-old man stole property from him.
