Police charge seven after robbery - Lakemba

Seven people have been charged after an alleged street robbery at Lakemba this morning.

About 1am (Sunday 16 June 2019), three men - two aged 24 and one aged 31 - were walking towards their vehicle on Railway Parade when they were surrounded by a group of males.

The men allegedly demanded property and assaulted the three friends before stealing a mobile phone, keys and ear pods.

Two of these males allegedly stole a Suzuki Swift belonging to one of the men, driving it from the scene.

Police were called and responded immediately, arresting seven males nearby. The Suzuki was recovered nearby on Bellevue Avenue.

The three men who were robbed received minor injuries; however, didn't require medical treatment at the time.

The seven men who were arrested — aged 21, 20, two aged 19, two aged 18, and one aged 15 — were all taken to Campsie Police Station.

The 21-year-old man has been charged with robbery in company, assault police (x2), and resist arrest.

The 19-year-old man has been charged with robbery in company, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The other five were all charged with robbery in company.

All, except the 15-year-old, were refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 16 June 2019).

The juvenile has been granted conditional bail to appear at a Children's Court on Thursday 18 July 2019.
