Police charge teen after Wyndham Vale explosion

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad have arrested a teenage boy following an explosion in Wyndham Vale last Sunday.

Emergency services were called to a worksite on Glee Street on 16 June following reports a portable toilet had exploded.

No one was injured during the incident.

A 17-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy was arrested at his home address in Hoppers Crossing earlier today.

He is expected to be charged this afternoon with a range of explosives offences, including cause explosion likely to cause serious injury to property and make or use explosive, as well as drugs and weapons offences.

A number of items including explosives and drugs were also seized from his address.

The teen is likely to face a children's court later today.
