Police charge teen over spectator assault - Hassall Grove

A teenager has been charged following investigations into an altercation between spectators at a rugby union match in Sydney's west at the weekend.

Just before 1.30pm on Saturday (29 May 2021), officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command were called to Mittigar Reserve, Hassall Grove, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told three men – aged 23, 38 and 60 – were assaulted by a male that left the ground prior to the arrival of officers.

The 60-year-old man sought medical treatment.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 13-year-old boy at a home in Bidwill about 3.30pm today (Monday 31 May 2021).

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and breach of bail.

The teen was refused bail and will at Parramatta Children's Court tomorrow.

Inquiries are continuing.
