A teenage boy has been charged with an alleged firearm offence in the state's south.
About 3:30pm today (Monday 5 May 2025), officers attached to Riverina Police District attended a shopping centre in Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga, following reports a young person had threatened another person with a gun.
The youth ran from the centre but was located a short time later in Morgan Street, Wagga Wagga.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before a Children's Court on Tuesday 8 July 2025.
Further inquiries revealed the pistol was in a unit in Morgan Street, Wagga Wagga. The pistol was found to be a plastic toy gun, modified to not display any features distinguishing it as a toy.
