Police charge teen with property offences - Operation Western Mongoose

A teen has been charged following an investigation into a number of property-related offences in the state's north east.

Operation Western Mongoose has been established to investigate property offences including, the theft of vehicles during break-ins from homes in Oxley Police District.

Officers attached to the operation were conducting patrols in the Tamworth CBD about 10pm yesterday, (Thursday 21 April 2022), where they spoke to a 14-year-old boy.

The teen was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with three counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, three counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence-in company-steal.

The teen appeared at a children's court today (Friday 22 April 2022), where he was formerly granted conditional bail to appear at same court on Tuesday 3 May 2022.

Strikeforce Western Mongoose was established this week consisting of police from the Detectives, Proactive Crime and Crime Prevention Unit within the Oxley police District, Western Region Enforcement Squad, Traffic and Highway Command, Youth Command and Dog Unit.
