Police charge teens for group retail thefts and driving offences

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two teenagers after they were arrested in Point Cook today (27 September).

A Commodore alleged to have been involved in multiple group theft offences in Camberwell, Keilor Downs and Maribyrnong was observed on the Westgate Freeway allegedly travelling at 150km/h.

The vehicle was tracked to a service station on The Avenue in Ardeer about 12.40pm where it is alleged the Commodore reversed in the direction of police vehicles before taking off.

The vehicle was located dumped in Bon Thomas Reserve, the five occupants attempted to flee on foot but were arrested nearby.

A 14-year-old Deer Park boy has been charged with multiple offences including intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving, damage to emergency service vehicle by reckless driving, drive manner dangerous, reckless conduct endanger serious injury and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

A 17-year-old Derrimut boy has been charged with robbery, theft and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

A 16-year-old Melton South boy has been charged with multiple offences including theft and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

The three teenagers are expected to be remanded to appear at a children's court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Sunbury boy and a 16-year-old St Albans boy were both released pending further enquiries.
