Earlier this month, detectives from The Hume Police District commenced investigations into the cultivation of cannabis within the region.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a rural property on Old Macquarie Road, Brayton, about 8.30am yesterday (Tuesday 26 May 2020).

Police seized more than 2800 cannabis plants growing on the property.

The estimated potential street value of the seizure is $8.6 million.

The plants have been destroyed.

Three men – aged 31, 32 and 33 – were arrested at the property and have been taken to Goulburn Police Station, where they were charged with large commercial cultivation of a prohibited plant.

They were all refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 27 May 2020).
