Police Charge Two After Assault At Tamworth

Two men have been charged following an alleged assault in the state's west last week.

About 11.55am on Friday 22 August 2025, a man with serious injuries was brought to Tamworth Police Station by a member of the public who had located him on Heath Road, Duri.

Police were told the 22-year-old man had allegedly been assaulted earlier that morning around 7.30am at an address on Kent Street, Tamworth, and again at an address on Napier Avenue, East Tamworth.

The man was taken to Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District commenced an investigation and following thorough inquiries, about 1.40pm on Tuesday 26 August 2025, arrested a 19-year-old man.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and was charged with take in company with intent get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s), and possess prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear before Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday 22 October 2025.

Following further inquiries, police yesterday (Wednesday 27 August 2025) executed a search warrant at an address on Parry Street, South Tamworth, and arrested a 21-year-old man.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with take in company with intent get advantage occasion actual bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s).

His bail has been refused to appear before Local Bail Division – Court 5 on Thursday 4 September 2025.
