Police charge two after break, enter and steal at Inverell

A man and a teenager will face court following a break and enter in the state's north at the weekend.

Sometime after 6pm on Saturday (9 July 2022), two people allegedly forced entry into a home on Short Street, Inverell, and stole a number of items including a push bike and fishing knife.

Officers attached to New England Police District were notified of the incident and commenced an investigation.

Following enquiries, about 12am on Saturday (9 July 2022), officers attended a home in Inverell where they arrested a 16-year-old boy.

He was taken to Inverell Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

The boy was refused bail to appear at a children's court on Thursday 28 July 2022.

About 4pm yesterday (Sunday 10 July 2022), officers executed a search warrant at a home on Short Street, Inverell, and seized a push bike believed to be stolen.

Following further inquiries, about 9.10pm the same day, a 20-year-old man was arrested at the same home on Short Street, and taken to Inverell Police Station.

The man was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear at Inverell Local Court on Thursday 25 August 2022.
