Police charge two after guns and drugs seized at Wollongong

Two men have been charged after firearms and prohibited drugs were seized in Wollongong earlier today.

About 7am (Thursday 23 July 2020), officers from Wollongong Police District executed a Firearms Prohibition Order at a home in Bellambi, north of Wollongong.

During the search, officers allegedly located and seized a firearm, ammunition, two gel blasters, methylamphetamine and a clear substance believed to be GBH. These items will undergo forensic analysis.

Two men - aged 42 and 44 - were arrested at the home and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

The 42-year-old man was charged with possess prohibited firearm, possess unregistered firearm and possess prohibited drug.

The 44-year-old man was charged with possess prohibited firearm, possess ammunition, not store firearm safely, breach Firearms Prohibition Order and possess prohibited drug.

The pair were refused bail and are due to appear in Wollongong Local Court tomorrow (Friday 24 July 2020).

Investigations are continuing.
