Two women have been charged after a police pursuit in the state's west yesterday.
About 10pm (Monday 6 October 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting stationary random breath testing on Bridge Street, Tamworth, when they stopped a grey sedan.
When the driver failed to produce a driver's licence, she left the scene, and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued southbound along Bridge Street, Werris Creek Road, and onto Currabubula area before it travelled back towards Tamworth on Werris Creek Road where the vehicle stopped.
Police will allege a 7-year-old child was seated in the rear of the car without an approved child seat.
The driver – a 22-year-old woman was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit – not stop – drive in a manner dangerous, and drive with 1 passenger restraint not properly.
She was granted conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 3 November 2025.
Her front seat passenger – a 22-year-old woman – was taken to the same police station where she was charged with possess prohibited drug and breach of bail.
She was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 5 today (Tuesday 7 October 2025).
