Police charge two after stolen car intercepted in Springvale

Detective from Whitehorse Vehicle Crime Team have charged two men in Springvale after an allegedly stolen vehicle was seen driving erratically today.

It is alleged that the white BMW hatchback was stolen from a Tramway Parade address in Beaumaris about 8am this morning.

Police initially sighted the BMW driving erratically on the Nepean Highway in Brighton about 9am.

The vehicle was tracked with the assistance of the airwing across the south-east metro areas, including on the Monash Freeway and Eastlink.

The vehicle stopped outside the Springvale Police Station shortly after, with the two occupants were arrested about 10.45am.

A 20-year-old Box Hill North man has been charged with aggravated burglary, deception and theft of motor vehicle.

He is expected to appear at court this evening

A 22-year-old Keysborough man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle.

He has been bailed to the Moorabbin Magistrates' Court on 12 January 2022.
