Police charge two men with supply of drugs at Coonabarabran

Two men have been charged with possession and supply of prohibited drugs in the state's Central West.

About 1pm yesterday (Thursday 25 July 2019), police attached to Orana Mid Western Police District approached a Toyota Prado parked at a rest stop 20km north east of Coonamble on the Oxley Highway.

On informing the driver, aged 42, a vehicle and person search would be conducted, it is alleged he produced a small package from his jacket and threw it some 10m away.

Police retrieved the item which allegedly contained methylamphetamine and MDMA, along with restricted substance.

A short time later, a second man, aged 36, returned to the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle was conducted where officers allegedly located and seized methylamphetamine, MDMA, and 1.6kg of cannabis with a street value of approximately $32,000.

Both men were arrested and taken to Coonabarabran Police Station where they were charged with multiple drug related offences.

The younger man was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug, supply cannabis – indictable quantity, three counts of possess prohibited drug, and possess prescribed restricted substance.

He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Friday 26 July 2019).

The older man was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug and possess prescribed restricted substance.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Coonabarabran Local Court on Friday 23 August 2019.
