Police charge two over Whalan house fire

Two men have been charged after a house fire in Sydney's west overnight.

About 10.10pm (Saturday 19 September 2020), police noticed a fire at a home on Luxford Road, Whalan.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the inside of the home was completely destroyed. The garage of the residence was destroyed by fire the day before.

No one was home at the time and no injuries have been reported.

Officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, two men – aged 34 and 39 – were arrested on Luxford Road at 11.30pm.

They were taken to Mount Druitt Police Station and both charged with destroy property in company use fire.

The pair have been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 20 September 2020).
