Two teenagers have been charged following investigations into traffic and property-related offences in the state's north east.
Operation Western Mongoose was established in April 2022 to investigate property offences, break and enters, and vehicle thefts throughout Oxley Police District.
Over the past week of the operation, officers charged two teenagers – aged 15 and 17.
The 15-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence, larceny, two counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling in company intend steal and participate criminal group contribute criminal.
He was served a Future Court Attendance Notice (FCAN) at a juvenile detention centre last Friday (17 June 2022), to appear before a children's court on Tuesday 16 August 2022.
A second teenager – aged 17-year-old – was arrested about 11am on Wednesday (15 June 2022), at a home in Tamworth.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with take and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, two counts of larceny, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence, aggravated break and enter dwelling in company intend steal and participate criminal group contribute criminal.
The boy was given conditional bail to appear at a children's court on Tuesday 5 July 2022.
Investigations will continue under Operation Western Mongoose.
Operation Western Mongoose consists of officers from the Proactive Crime Team, Detectives, Crime Prevention Unit within Oxley Police District, Western Region Enforcement Squad, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Youth Command and Dog Unit.
