Police charge woman after $90,000 methylamphetamine seizure

A 52-year-old woman from Dromedary has been charged after police located three ounces of methylamphetamine in a vehicle she was travelling in near Claremont this afternoon.

Police intercepted the vehicle about 2:30pm today as it was travelling south on the Brooker Highway.

The woman, who was a passenger, was arrested when police located three ounces of methylamphetamine (ICE) hidden in the vehicle. This has an estimated street value of approximately $90,000.

The 61-year-old man driving the vehicle was also arrested but was released from custody without charge.

The woman was charged with selling a controlled drug, possession of a controlled drug, and other drug offences.

She was bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
