Police charge woman after driving on wrong side of Federal Highway and failing a breath test - Hume

Police have charged a woman after she allegedly drove on the incorrect side of the Federal Highway in the Southern Tablelands while intoxicated this afternoon.

About 3.25pm (Tuesday 4 August 2020), police received numerous calls regarding a black BMW travelling south in the northbound lanes of the Federal Highway at Collector.

Further calls were received stating the vehicle had changed direction and had commenced travelling north in the southbound lanes.

Officers from The Hume Highway Patrol responded and pulled the vehicle over near the Edmondson VC rest area.

Officers spoke with the 34-year-old driver who was subsequently breath tested. Officers will allege the roadside breath test provided a reading in the high-range category.

She was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where she allegedly refused to submit to a breath analysis.

She was charged with failing to submit to a breath analysis.

She was given conditional bail to appear in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 30 September 2020.

Her licence was suspended.
