Police Charge Woman After Hampton East Homicide

Homicide Squad detectives yesterday charged a woman with murder following the death of a man in Hampton East in January 2024.

A 27-year-old woman of no fixed place of address who was already in custody for unrelated offending was yesterday charged with one count of murder.

She will remain in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 18 June.

The charge follows an incident where emergency services were called to an address on Wickham Road about 3.45pm on 21 January, 2024 after a man was located unresponsive.

The 33-year-old man from Ashburton was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

Three people were arrested at the scene - a 27-year-old Hampton East man, 28-year-old Berwick man and 25-year-old woman of no fixed place of address - who were later released pending further enquiries.

Police believe the parties involved are known to each other.
