Police charge woman after house fire - North Epping

A woman has been charged following investigations into a house fire in Sydney's north-west overnight.

About 10pm (Wednesday 26 February 2020), emergency services were called to Bailey Crescent, North Epping after reports a house was well alight.

NSW Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished a blaze which had engulfed a granny-flat at the rear of the property. The unit sustained significant structural damage.

On arrival, officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command spoke with a number of residents that had self-evacuated; fortunately, no one was injured.

Following inquiries, a 20-year-old woman, who resides at the location, was arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station where she was charged with damage property by fire.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2020).
