A woman has been charged following a pursuit that began in Annandale last night.
About 9.50pm (Friday 29 August 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol City East Sector were conducting patrols on City West Link, Annandale, when they sighted a vehicle with non-Government-issued registration plates.
Police followed the vehicle onto the Western Distributor at Rozelle, entering the Anzac Bridge and signalled for the vehicle to stop; however, when the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued across the Harbour Bridge before exiting at the Military Road offramp and came to a stop at a traffic light in Mosman.
The driver – a 42-year-old woman – was arrested at the scene.
She was taken to Day Street Police Station where she allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine. Further checks revealed her driver's licence had expired on 19 May 2025.
She was charged with:
- Dishonestly interfere/copy unique identifier
- Unlawfully possess thing resembles etc number plate
- Not comply with direction to stop/not move etc vehicle
- Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road
- Use uninsured motor vehicle on road
- Owner use vehicle on road/road related area motor vehicle tax unpaid, and
- Licence expired within the last 2 years - first offence.
The woman was granted conditional bail to reappear before Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 24 September 2025.
