Police charge woman over assault and armed robbery at Orange

A woman has been charged with nine offences following the alleged assault and armed robbery of two men in the state's Central Tablelands.

About 3am yesterday (Sunday 17 January 2021), two men – aged 23 and 40 – were at a home on Maxwell Avenue at Orange to visit three other people.

A short time later, it is alleged an occupant, a 38-year-old woman, approached the two men while armed with a knife and metal pole.

Police were told the woman demanded money and assaulted them multiple times.

Both men escaped and alerted officers attached to Central West Police District.

Police attended and arrested the 38-year-old woman, who was taken to Orange Police Station.

She was charged with two counts of aggravated detain for advantage, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of intimidation, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and one count of malicious damage.

The woman was refused bail and appeared before Orange Local Court today (Monday 18 January 2021), where she was granted conditional bail to reappear before the same court on Monday 15 March 2021.
