Police charge woman over fatal crash in Tingha

A woman has been charged following a fatal single-vehicle crash in the state's west last week.

About 4pm on Saturday 9 September 2023, emergency services were called to Grove Road, Tingha, after reports a utility had left the road and rolled a number of times before coming to rest on its roof.

The driver, a 53-year-old woman, managed to free herself from the vehicle and contacted emergency services.

A passenger, a 55-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established, and officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit launched an investigation into the crash.

Following inquiries, the woman attended Inverell Police Station where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death. Her license was suspended.

She was granted conditional bail to appear before Armidale Local Court on Monday 30 October 2023.
