Police charge woman over planned kidnap and assault - Tweed/Byron

Detectives have charged a woman with allegedly attempting to solicit the kidnap and assault of a man on the state's Far North Coast.

In August this year, detectives attached to Tweed/Byron Police District established Strike Force Corks – with assistance from Northern Rivers Region Enforcement Squad (RES) and Queensland Police (QPOL) – to investigate allegations a 49-year-old woman was attempting to solicit the kidnap and assault of a 52-year-old man known to her.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives attended a home at Pottsville about 4pm yesterday (Thursday 28 October 2021).

A 49-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

She was subsequently charged with threaten injury to person with intent to commit indictable offence and recruit other to assist in carrying out criminal activity.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today (Friday 29 October 2021).

Investigations under Strike Force Corks are continuing.
