Police charge woman over stabbing - Metford

A woman has been refused bail after being charged over an alleged stabbing at Metford overnight.

Emergency services were called to Hakea Way about 9.50pm yesterday (Saturday 5 August 2023), following reports of a brawl.

A 46-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for chest wounds and was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

A 50-year-old woman was treated for an injury to her hand and was also taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 46-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and was taken to Maitland Police Station where she has now been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She was refused bail and appeared in Newcastle Bail Court this morning (Sunday 6 August 2023), where she was once again bail refused. She is due to appear in Maitland Local Court tomorrow (Monday 7 August 2023).
