Police charged man following series of robberies in Melbourne's west.

Brimbank Divisional Response Unit detectives have charged a man following a spree of attempted robberies on service stations in the western suburbs last week, Victoria Police say.

The 21-year-old Deer Park man was charged with three counts of attempted armed robbery, one count of armed robbery and one count of theft of a motor vehicle.

The charges relate to attempted armed robberies allegedly committed on three service stations on Hampshire Rd in Sunshine, Ballarat Road in Albion, Ballarat Road in Deer Park and a bottle shop on Ballarat Road in Deer Park on 31 August..

The man was remanded in custody and is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this morning.

Police are still looking for a second man.
