Police continue to investigate Bendigo fire

Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to speak to a male seen in the Bendigo area as their investigation into a suspicious fire continues.

Emergency services responded to a grass fire in the White Hills area of Bobs Street about 3.30pm on Saturday 28 December.

The fire quickly spread and was threatening surrounding businesses and residential properties, with residents of Strickland Street evacuated as a precaution.

No one was injured during the incident and no property was damaged.

It is understood a male wearing a blue helmet and riding a black mountain bike attended an address on Bobs Street about 3pm and advised occupants to contact Triple Zero.

Investigators are hoping to speak with this male as he may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Police also believe there were a number of people on the O'Keefe Trail between Bobs and Murphy streets sometime between 2.30pm and 3.15pm who may have seen the male or have information.

The investigation remains ongoing.
