Police continue to investigate Corio non-fatal shooting

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are appealing for further information after an incident in Corio on Monday where a man was shot.

Emergency services were called to Browallia Drive about 2.10am on Monday, 17 July following reports a man had been assaulted and sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body.

A 24-year-old Corio man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is believed the man sustained the injuries elsewhere, before returning home to seek assistance.

Over the course of two days, three men have been arrested and interviewed by police, including:

• A 24-year-old Newtown man, who was arrested in Newton with the assistance of the Special Operations Group around midday on Tuesday 18 July.

• A 19-year-old Lara man, who was arrested two hours later in Lara.

• A 38-year-old Hoppers Crossing man, who was arrested shortly before 8am this morning (20 July) in Hoppers Crossing.

The three men have subsequently been released pending further enquiries.

Investigators are keen to speak to anyone with any information on the incident, or who might have been in the area at the time and has CCTV or dashcam footage.

Police believe the incident was targeted and that parties involved are known to each other.
