Police employee charged with high-range PCA at Lake Illawarra

A NSW Police Force employee has been charged with high-range PCA in the state's south.

Just before 8.30am today (Thursday 23 June 2022), officers attached to Lake Illawarra Highway Patrol stopped a Kia Sportage on Terry Street, Albion Park, for the purpose of a random breath test.

It will be alleged the driver – a 43-year-old man – who is an unsworn NSW Police Force employee, returned a positive reading.

He was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was subjected to a secondary breath analysis, which allegedly returned a reading of 0.181.

The man was issued a Court Attendance Notice for high range PCA and is due to appear in Kiama Local Court on Monday 1 August 2022.

His NSW driver's licence has also been suspended.

Two children – aged six and nine years – were in the vehicle at the time; they were uninjured.
