Police Helicopter Tracks Driver After Elizabeth Downs Chase

Two men have been arrested after a stolen car was uncovered and another vehicle failed to stop for police at Elizabeth Downs last night.

Police spotted a Holden sedan towing a trailer carrying another Holden sedan on Hamblynn Road, Elizabeth Downs just before 8.30pm on Thursday 28 May.

It will be alleged the driver and passenger unhitched the trailer and, when approached by patrols, the driver got back into the sedan and drove off. The passenger remained with the trailer and was arrested after checks revealed the Holden on the trailer had been stolen.

When police signalled for the driver of the Holden to stop, he failed to comply and was pursued onto Kincade Avenue.

PolAir was in the area and began tracking the vehicle as it travelled through back streets and onto Main North Road.

The driver continued onto Hogarth Road towards the Salisbury CBD before travelling on Saints Road and onto Target Hill Road, Salisbury Heights.

Police tracked the Holden to Sydney Drive, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. PolAir continued to track the man as he jumped fences before he was arrested in a backyard on Vendetta Drive.

The 36-year-old man from Craigmore was charged with fail to stop for police, interfere with a motor vehicle and drive whilst disqualified.

His bail is yet to be determined.

The passenger, a 34-year-old man from Tiddy Widdy Beach, was charged with interfere with a motor vehicle and carry an offensive weapon.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on the 3 July.

The Holden was towed from the scene and impounded for 28 days.
