Police hunt for Springvale carjackers

Police are appealing for public assistance following a carjacking in Springvale Monday night, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told the victim was driving north on Springvale Road when his vehicle was struck from behind by a stolen Toyota about 9.40pm on 5 June.

The victim pulled them over in Young Street to exchange details where he was approached by one of two men from the Toyota who was armed with what is believed to be an axe.

The man demanded the keys and threatened the victim who subsequently handed over the keys to his black Holden VF Commodore sedan, registration ABI332.

The second offender then fled in the Holden before the first offender followed him in the Toyota down to Peace Street.

The red 2014 Toyota Corolla sedan, registration 1AT9MT, stolen from Avoca Street, South Yarra on 5 June, is yet to be located.

Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify the two men and locate the two stolen vehicles.

The driver of the Toyota is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance with short light brown hair, fair skin with acne scars on his face and a medium build.

He was wearing a black hooded jumper.

The second male is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, tall and thin.

He was wearing a grey hooded jumper, grey tracksuit shorts and black sneakers with orange fluro pattern on them.

The victim, a 21-year-old Rowville man and his passenger, a 25-year-old Glen Waverley woman, were not injured during the armed robbery.
