Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Port Melbourne this morning.
It's understood the victim was walking near Crighton Reserve on Liardett Street about 5.20am.
The 71-year-old Port Melbourne man was approached by an unknown man and stabbed three times.
The victim fled to a nearby café on Bay Street where he raised the alarm.
He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators have conducted a thorough search of the area this morning and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
