Police Hunt Tips on Bathurst Tree Vandalism

Police are appealing for public assistance as a part of an investigation into the malicious damage of several trees in the state's west.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District have commenced an investigation following the alleged malicious damage of multiple trees in the Bathurst CBD area.

On Tuesday 8 March 2025, police were told a tree had been damaged in Rankin Street, Bathurst.

Several trees were also reported damaged in a park on Stanley Street, Bathurst.

On Monday 14 April 2025, a man noticed damage to the trees on Keppel Street, Bathurst.

On Thursday 17 April 2025, a further report of a single tree being damaged on Durham Street, Bathurst was reported.

So far approximately 16 trees have been damaged in this fashion. The approximate value of damaged trees is $120,000.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to the driver of a truck described as a white Hino van with a cargo compartment and single access door on the nearside of the vehicle.
