Police Investigate After Man Assaulted In St Kilda

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted and robbed near the St Kilda pier this afternoon.

It is believed a man was approached by at least two male offenders on Pier Road and an altercation occurred before the man was assaulted and had his phone stolen and thrown into the sea about 1pm.

There was a large number of bystanders watching and following the assault and the offenders fled the scene before police arrival.

The male victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

No arrests have been made, and investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses.
